This was a fun little project I did to practice my analytical design skills. I used a branding related approach to analyze a personal booklet from an anonymous volunteer – from my analysis it came clear that this person had a very obsessive personality. I used this newfound knowledge to expand this knowledge into a typography project.
I created a very strict set of rules that was heavily researched and eventually approved, this enabled me to view the world from the eyes of a person with a certain type of OCD. The process led me down an interesting path of discoveries and in the end to the final solution as seen in the picture above. For the production phase of the project I created a few laws to represent the manic state of being a prisoner of your own mind, it was this kind of obsessiveness that helped me understand the pressure an obsessive individual exert on themselves.
A quick recap of the production laws:
- 10 seconds to create 40 vertical lines drawn in an upwards direction. Up for positivity!
- Must follow the grid. No spills across the lines!
- Any horizontal or diagonal lines needs to be dead straight.
- You have to start over if you break any of the rules above.
